Music Department Scholarships for Music Majors and Minors Music Studio Scholarships are talent-based awards given to music majors and minors by annual audition. The scholarships range from $200 to $2000 per academic year. The Lichtenstein String Quartet Scholarship is awarded to four string students each year (two violins, one viola, one cello). The scholarship amounts to $8000 per person for the academic year. It is highly competitive and is awarded based upon an annual audition. The Jace C. Hoffman Memorial Scholarship is for music eduaction majors and carries an award of $500 per academic year. The Texas Jazz Festival Scholarship in Honor of Wanda Gregory awards selected students a scholarship of $1000 per academic year. |

Music Department Scholarships for Non-Music Majors The Music Department offers a limited number Music Activity Scholarships to non-music majors who participate in our major ensembles. The scholarships are based upon student ability and the needs of the particular ensembles, and range from $200 to $2000 per academic year. |

Information on Scholarship Auditions All
scholarship auditions consist of three parts. First, the student will
prepare two selections (see information below for specific areas).
Second, the committee will ask to hear a few major scales up to four
sharps or flats (two octaves when possible). Third, the student will
be given a short sight-reading excerpt. Auditioning students will
want to give the best impression possible. It is best to come well-prepared
and dressed nicely. Percussionists: Be prepared
to audition in two of the following areas: snare drum, keyboard percussion,
timpani, drum set. Download
