Department of Music
Greetings! Welcome to the Department of Music at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. At A&M-CC, you will experience a real difference in pursuing your musical education. Like many of the universities in Texas we are an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, we are members of the Texas Association of Music Schools, and, like many of the universities in Texas, we offer degrees in performance, education and the liberal arts. Lastly, you will find that our faculty has similar credentials and experiences found in other music faculty across the state and nation.
The difference at A&M-CC is principally found in our core values as a faculty and a department. We value each and every student’s individual talents and their cultural and ethnic diversity. One core value is our mutual trust and respect for students and faculty. Another core value is in creating a nurturing atmosphere for students. But perhaps the overarching value is found in the team spirit that permeates all of our interactions. I chose to join the faculty at A&M-CC because of these core values and because of the incredible opportunity to provide students with an excellent education.
As you prepare to go to college, you will undoubtedly be investigating several universities: first through the internet, followed perhaps by an e-mail with some questions, leading eventually to a visit to the campus to audition and apply for admission.
